By every measurable standard, the world has never been better.

For Isaac Miller, it feels safe. Predictable. Perfect. A loving family. A quiet neighbourhood. A future that seems certain.

Until it all breaks.

A national tragedy claims 187 innocent lives. Soon afterward, Isaac’s closest friend, Daniel, leaves—but the explanation for his departure doesn’t fit the man Isaac knows. Searching for answers, Isaac begins to question the world he has always trusted.

Because the closer Isaac gets to the truth…
the more he begins to wonder

The Needs of the Many is a work of speculative fiction that explores the question: What freedoms are we willing to surrender for a safe and secure life?
